Tourism - Looking to the Future
Relics of Rushden's rise to prominence as a 'boot and shoe' town in the early 20th century are clearly displayed in and around the town. A stroll along Rushden High Street, in particular, highlights the determination of the factory owners to display their affluence, infusing the town with some fine examples of late Victorian/Edwardian architecture.
The development of Rushden Lakes heralds a new chapter of expansion for the town. Rushden Town Partnership will be working alongside Rushden Town Council's Tourism Committee in looking to the future to meld Rushden's rich heritage with its new phase of growth.
